SPEAKER_01Hello. Thank you for putting your ear to the listening tube. I'm your host, Bob Woodley. On this episode, we'll hear about the role of the media in the current pickle the Democratic Party has found itself.
SPEAKER_03Not the headlines.
SPEAKER_01When I started this podcast two and a half years ago, it was after six months of development and six years after the face of media changed when Donald Trump rode down an escalator and proclaimed his candidacy for President of the United States. I was a big fan of CNN since the All News Network came on the air in 1980. I refused to watch Fox News because of the bias I saw there. Suddenly, CNN was just as far to the left as Fox News was to the right. But that was just the beginning. During the Trump campaign and right on through the Trump presidency, CNN honed their daggers to a point where they couldn't say anything positive about Donald Trump or his administration without reminding the viewers of something else that they felt was equally bad. And that was just during what was supposed to be legitimate news. I expected the vitriol and badmouthing from the primetime guys like Don Lemmon and Chris Cuomo because that's what they were expected to do. But, as I've said many times on this program, there's a big difference between news and opinion. Reporters were more than happy to relinquish their legitimacy in order to tow the company line. People like Jim Acosta and Victor Blackwell were eager to show their stripes as agenda-driven reporters. Jake Tapper was another CNN mouthpiece who was perfectly happy making statements that were ridiculous, like Donald Trump is going to undo the U.S. Constitution. CNN made a choice. MSNBC joined in and became even more lunatic fringe than CNN. Still is. CNN turned my wife, who was completely apolitical in 2016, into a Donald Trump fan simply by the overwhelming amount of negative Donald Trump news that she witnessed me watching every day. While I'm sitting there thinking about how reality was so much different than what CNN was telling me, my wife's opinions began to form into those of a conservative and a pretty one at that. The next thing I know, my formerly apolitical wife is registering to vote for the first time in her life. As a Republican. That's about when I gave Fox News another chance. Sure, they have their extreme personalities too, and the news is certainly slanted right. But at least it's not made of the bitter pills the likes of CNN and MSNBC are regurgitating. As a trained journalist, I can tell the difference. I don't watch the talking heads in prime time. I'm looking for information, not opinion. Like most Americans and other people all over the world, I'm capable of forming my own opinion once I have the information. Today's media doesn't want it to be that way, especially the left-wing media, which is practically all of it. You have Fox News on the right as well as the Wall Street Journal, both under the same company umbrella, plus the New York Post and the Washington Times, whereas the New York Times and the Washington Post are left leaning, as are the three original TV networks, ABC, NBC, and CBS. Since Donald Trump came down that escalator, the mainstream media has shown us where they stand, and it isn't in the middle where the media should be. That's why many Democrats didn't know about the volume of illegal aliens crossing the southern border of the United States. And that shelters were being overrun, as well as other resources. Major cities like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and Denver had to make large-scale adjustments to their budgets and agendas. Agenda, whatever the plural of agenda is, to accommodate the millions of people coming into our country to claim asylum, even when they know they have no basis to claim asylum. The Biden administration went out of its way to not only allow it, but to prevent states like Texas and Arizona from stopping it, going so far as to file federal lawsuits against the states to make them keep the border open. The only major news outlet that was waving the red flag about illegal immigration was Fox News. The rest kept a lid on it for as long as they could. MediaMatters.org even created a research paper in March of 2021, just two months after Joe Biden became president, calling claims of a developing crisis at the southern border all lies from the right wing. They even updated it less than 24 hours later with more examples of how the right was lying to everybody about what was happening. In fact, it was called Myths and Facts About Immigration, Media Matters 2021 Guide to Debunking Right Wing Misinformation About Migrants and the Border. Even before this report, when CNN and MSNBC tried to criticize the Biden administration's border policies, Media Matters claimed they used falsehoods to do so. It wasn't long before the left-wing media fell in line with the president's agenda, and they stayed in line for years. Media Matters claimed there was no crisis, and calling it one was misleading the news consumer. While thousands of undocumented people poured across America's southern border in April of 2021, Media Matters insisted there was no evidence to support claims that illegal border crossings were contributing to the spread of the COVID-19 virus. What they didn't say was the reason there was no evidence is because nobody was being tested. The federal government only required people who arrived by aircraft to be tested, not those who swam across the Rio Grande. When it came to how the overwhelming influx of immigrants was going to be a drain on resources, Media Matters called it a myth, insisting that immigrants actually contribute to the economy. Eventually, tell that to the cities that had to cut social services to the Americans who already live there in order to accommodate the illegal immigrants. While Fox News was showing thousands of illegal immigrants on television every day, people wearing let us in Joe t-shirts, media matters called the allegation that the Biden administration supports an open border policy a right-wing talking point. Yet every time Texas did anything to close the border, the Biden administration used the court system to prevent it. Ultimately, the state of Texas had to literally lock federal agents out of the border area in order to contain it. Media matters also called it a myth that terrorists could be coming across the border as well. Since then, dozens of people on the terror watch list have been apprehended at the border, which can only make you wonder how many got through without being detected. Since President Biden did away with the border controls Donald Trump put in place, twenty thousand Chinese men of military age have illegally crossed the border into the United States. And we recently learned that a smuggling group associated with ISIS is also bringing immigrants to the border. Fortunately, we haven't witnessed any large-scale terrorism. Crime is another story. Many of the illegal immigrants roaming America's streets today have different values than most of us. They come from different lifestyles, where the will to survive supersedes all else. Petty crime, cops being attacked by gangs, rape and murder of women and girls have begun to accumulate. President Biden had to be challenged to say a woman's name during his State of the Union speech recently. A woman who was killed by an illegal immigrant. He mispronounced her name. The media was happy to give him a pass. By now you might be thinking, uh, Bob, are we talking about immigration or the media? Definitely the media. I may get bogged down in some of the details, but the media has spun a very tangled web indeed. Immigration is just one example of how the mainstream media has carried the water for the Biden administration while using as much of it as they could to drown Donald Trump. Still today, they blame Trump for stopping the so-called bipartisan immigration bill from getting passed. I talked about the bill when it first came out. It's a bad bill. Just because a few Republicans helped make it doesn't mean it should automatically be passed. It was a terrible bill and only showed how little the Biden administration cares about stemming the flow of illegal immigrants. But the left-wing talking point is that Trump stopped the bill to make Joe look bad. Believe me, he already looked bad. But you wouldn't know it if you only watch mainstream media or if you get your news from TikTok or Facebook. Remember when the New York Post broke the story about a laptop that was abandoned at a Delaware repair shop? Turns out it was abandoned by none other than the president's son, Robert, aka Hunter Biden. Once Dad and his crew found out about what was on the laptop, a conspiracy was hatched to deflect attention away from it. It was a multi-pronged attack, involving Facebook and Twitter, as well as 51 former intelligence professionals who signed a letter stating that the laptop had all the hallmarks of Russian disinformation. The left-wing press was more than glad to help put the story to rest. The Biden administration put pressure on social media sites to delete the truth about the laptop, and newspapers and other news outlets across the country refused to acknowledge the laptop even existed. We now know that it was all lies made to cover up the damning words and pictures contained on the laptop. Pictures of Hunter with hookers, smoking crack, evidence of influence peddling. When Donald Trump brought up the laptop during one of their debates in 2020, Joe Biden lied to the entire country when he said 51 intelligence professionals signed a letter stating it wasn't Hunter's at all, but a Russian hoax. How do we know it's real? The federal government recently used part of its contents to prosecute Hunter Biden for falsifying an application for a firearm. Hillary Clinton used Russia in an attempt to discredit Donald Trump as well. Remember the steel dossier that she said connected Donald Trump to Russia? Then we find out she paid for it, and it's just a big lie. History would dictate that the next time a Democrat blames the Russians for something, they're lying. It was them. It doesn't matter how much the media agrees because the media is lying too. How do I know this? Well, I've suspected it for quite a while and even spoke about specific examples over the past two plus years. Patterns are emerging. One pattern is that if the Democrats warn you that the Republicans are going to do something terrible if Donald Trump gets elected president again, what they don't tell you is that they're already doing it. Would you like some examples? Well, here's a recent interview with Vice President Kamala Harris with Essence Magazine on what will happen if Donald Trump gets elected president again.
SPEAKER_00Who has openly talked about his intention to weaponize the Department of Justice against his political enemies.
SPEAKER_01Because someone might weaponize the Department of Justice against his political enemies? Sound familiar. It should, because that's what the Biden administration has been doing since Donald Trump announced he'll seek another term as president. Trump has already been convicted of thirty four felony counts of something. We're still not quite sure what yet, but he's definitely guilty. The charges stem from the way payments to his lawyer were logged in the paperwork. Misdemeanors that had gone past the statute of limitations. But with the Biden Department of Justice, they were elevated to felonies by connecting them to election laws. The third highest ranking man in the DOJ left to work on the New York State case. I'm sure he was paid handsomely for helping Joe Biden be able to call Donald Trump a convicted felon at the first debate. More on that in a bit. As for the New York case, the judge is a Biden donor and his daughter works for the party. Perhaps Trump said it best when he correctly guessed that even Mother Teresa couldn't win this case. That's not all. There are other legal entanglements the Biden Department of Justice were able to create to keep Trump busy and off the campaign trail. The other New York case was designed to make him go broke and not be allowed to do business in New York. They wanted a half a billion dollars as bond while the cases appealed. Luckily for Trump, the bond was lowered to a more reasonable amount. I suspect all those cases will be overturned on appeal, but that's okay for Joe and Kamala and the media. It's just more juice to squirt in the eyes of conservatives. Joe gets to call Donald a felon until the election, and the media can keep reminding viewers and listeners that Trump has more legal troubles ahead. But we can't vote for Donald Trump because he might use the justice system against his political opponents. Which is exactly what the Democrats have been doing all along. A willing press helped them convey the message against Republicans while running cover for the fact that the Democrats are doing is what they warn will be done by the Republicans. The media seems to agree that it's all right for the left to do it, but not have it done to them. Here's something to consider. Donald Trump could have called upon his Department of Justice to investigate and convict Hillary Clinton for using her personal server to conduct official business while Secretary of State. She also destroyed evidence to cover up her transgressions. There were plenty of calls to lock her up. But that didn't happen. Conversely, Biden uses his command of law enforcement quite often, even coming close to getting his son Hunter a sweetheart plea deal that would have given him immunity for life. If not for a sharp-eyed judge, Hunter would have more immunity than the president. Oh, that's right. The president has immunity when conducting official business, according to a recent ruling by the Supreme Court. You would think Joe Biden, of all people, would understand the ruling, but he and his team of media manipulators are making it seem like the end of the Constitution. Well, it isn't. And it not only applies to Joe Biden, but also Donald Trump and every president before them and those yet to come. But it throws a monkey wrench in the Biden plan to use the DOJ to take down Trump. All of those trials and sentencing dates are now in flux, as whole cases now need to be re-examined. Perhaps the Biden DOJ needs a refresher course on the Constitution. The most interesting part of the Biden reaction to the Supreme Court ruling is that they still think it's the most newsworthy story when it comes to politics at the federal level. The Biden team tried to make it so, but it was overshadowed by another event.
SPEAKER_03Let's go back through the listening tube for this week in history.
SPEAKER_01Hold on, lady. I'm still talking about the history that's being made right now. You'll you'll have to excuse her. She thrives on attention. Anyway, after years of the press covering for the president, asking only softball questions about his favorite flavor of ice cream, when they had a rare chance to ask anything at all, Joe was exposed. We now know why his people kept him from the press. We now know why the press played along. Anything was better than Donald Trump becoming president again. The press was in cahoots with the Biden team, his controllers, if you will, probably Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Anthony Blinken, maybe some military leaders. They all did a pretty good job of carrying Joe around like weekend at Bernie's. The extreme left was able to keep the border open and expand social service needs, making more people dependent on the government. That's the goal of the left. Keep people dependent on the government and they'll have no choice but to vote for you. As for the media, I think they just like the chaos. That's why they go hand in hand with the liberal district attorneys financed by the likes of George Soros to eliminate law and order. The criminals become the victims and the victims become an involuntary enabler of an oppressor state. No news isn't good news for the twenty four hour media cycle. The more chaos and disorder, the higher the TV ratings. But there's a quieter war being waged by the media. It happens every time a senator or congressman comes out of a meeting with President Biden and tells us how sharp the president was in there. How he's really on the ball. As lucid as a lucid dream. Never mind that nobody asked. Then, oddly enough, some reporters started asking about the president's demeanor. That required that anyone who spoke to the press about the president also had to include how attentive and quick-witted he was during their time together. Rest assured, we were told, the president is fully and completely in charge of his faculties. Then came the presidential debate between the challenger, Donald Trump, and the incumbent Joe Biden. A couple of Thursdays ago now, so plenty has happened since then. But what happened that night was what nightmares are made of. Mostly for the viewers, but also for Joe Biden. Personally, the feeling I had in my chest when the president started losing his way was a feeling like I never had before. It was a mixture of horror and empathy, but I quickly regained my focus, hoping for Joe to recover. As I recall, the first time he was able to end pretty well, but then came the moment when he said they beat Medicare and then a sentence that ended as mysteriously as it began. That's how I remember it. I didn't watch it again. Forgive me if I exaggerated. But it was clear that only one of the men on the stage was in control of his mental faculties, and it was Donald Trump. Yes, I've heard about all the lies contained in his remarks, just as Joe was judged for his lies. They're both talking off the cuff, and perhaps they remember things differently than what actually happened. We all do that. Our knack for it is demonstrated by the children's game telephone line. But at no time during the debate did I feel the same horror and empathy for Donald Trump. I'm not giving him an A, but Graded on a curve, he gets an A minus to Biden's D. After the debate, Joe's wife Jill greeted him at a watch party by telling him what a big boy he was by answering all the questions. That was embarrassing for both of them and those in attendance. Donald Trump walked in and out of the debate like it was just another meeting, and he was in charge, despite what anyone else in the meeting believed. It might be interesting to hear what he was saying when his microphone was turned off. It may have been a mistake for the Biden team to make the microphone rule. Trump's rudeness may have given Joe a way out had Donald's microphone been on and he kept interrupting his opponent as he did during their last debate. But having Trump's microphone off left Joe hanging out on a limb at times. It was almost as if he was waiting for an interruption, but one never came. The hosts had to remind Joe a couple times that he still had more time remaining to answer the question, as if to say, Come on, Mr President, it's not time for a commercial break yet, so if you could just add a little more commentary to your answer, that would be great. Yes, this was the first presidential debate to have commercial breaks. CNN has to pay bills too. Plus, they sold the rights to other networks to simulcast the debate, so anyone could watch it on pretty much whatever network leans in their political direction. Maybe if they hadn't done that, only one or two million people might have seen it. You know, if it was only on CNN.

SPEAKER_01Since the debate, there has been a lot of rearranging of the furniture on the deck of the Titanic. Joe Biden is the captain, and the minions running around below are the media talking heads trying to figure out which lifeboat to board. Reporters who have had access to the president are all of a sudden remembering things that, in hindsight, might have deserved additional inquiry. Instead, we got stories like this one from CNN in March, just after Special Prosecutor Robert Herr called the president an old man with a poor memory, with the headline, Top news outlets acknowledge Herr's characterization of Biden's mental state didn't match reality. So CNN not only spoke for other news outlets and discredited the special prosecutor, they never called for the president to be held responsible for the reason for the investigation in the first place. The reason for not pursuing charges was that any jury would feel sorry for an old memory impaired man while maintaining he's not memory impaired. That was in March of this year. So which is it? Is he just an old man with a bad memory? Or should he be charged with removing top secret files and storing them improperly?
SPEAKER_03Well, that can't be right.
SPEAKER_01Of course, Donald Trump has been charged with the same thing. But what the press doesn't tell you is that when Donald Trump was president, he had the authority to remove top secret files from safe rooms. When Joe Biden did it, he was a senator. And senators are not allowed to remove files from the safe room. When you put them into context, Joe Biden is the one who broke the law, not Donald Trump. The recent Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity will shed more light on it. Is there such a thing as senatorial immunity? I'm going to look that up.
SPEAKER_03He's gonna look it up. He's really gonna do it.
SPEAKER_04You can't handle the truth.
SPEAKER_01Why, yes, there is such a thing as senatorial immunity. But it doesn't cover taking secret documents home with you. It covers what you say in relation to your job as a senator, except for felonies, treason, or breach of the peace. As I've said on this program before, whoever controls the executive branch controls which laws are enforced. That's why the current Attorney General is about to be sued by the House of Representatives for not turning over the unedited audio of Joe Biden's interview with Robert Herr. The written transcript is available, but the actual recordings, it's believed, will reveal more information about the president. The Attorney General has already defied a subpoena to turn over the recording, and now he may be facing a ten thousand dollar a day fine for as long as he refuses. That's how desperate the Democrats are to protect any evidence of Joe's condition. Credit to the Attorney General for being willing to fall on a sword for the boss. Although I'm sure George Soros or his son will pay the fine. Or maybe Hunter has a painting lying around he could sell to raise the money from an anonymous patron. The Justice Department has been running interference for Joe Biden as well as poking Donald Trump wherever they could. Other Democrats have been running interference for Joe Biden. Hollywood has been running interference for Joe Biden, and his vice president has been running interference for Joe Biden. But we expect that from them. The Democrats own those institutions right now, and they're using every tool in the toolbox to keep it that way. The problem was the plan had some holes in it. They counted on Donald Trump being behind bars and Joe Biden being in charge of his faculties. While the legal process ran its course with winners and losers on both sides so far, the whole process is taking longer than the Democrats hoped it would. And by election day, many of the charges will disappear. Plus, Joe Biden has begun to display, and was witnessed by fifty million people during the debate, a lack of composure. In case you're wondering if Donald Trump learned anything from his stunning defeat in the 2020 election, he clearly has. But before I get into that, I've been asked why I'm always pecking on Joe Biden and not Donald Trump. Well, I'll point out that this program has only existed since the Biden administration. There has been plenty of material with which to work. K Sarah Sarah. If you're reading the transcript, I'm sure I didn't spell that correctly. Anyway, so far in this mess created by the debate performance, with Democrats holding secret no cell phone meetings to discuss the issues at hand, to Joe writing to his fellow Democrats to let them know he's not going anywhere short of divine intervention, Donald Trump is surprisingly quiet. He's content with the results of the debate, and he's made a decision to not draw attention away from it by trying to rub salt on Joe's wound. Sure, the media's asked him for a reaction, but he doesn't take the bait. To fill the media space, the focus is now on everyone in the Democratic Party. With the NATO conference and the seventy fifth anniversary celebration, the whole world is waiting to see if Joe Biden can handle the pressure. All eyes will be upon him, looking for the slightest pause, longest stare, arm movement, and speech patterns and sentence structures. Joe Biden will become the most scrutinized leader in world history. Any sign of decline could be a death knell for Joe Biden's political future. And shame on the people who knew all along and didn't tell us. I've already named a few, but there are many more. Some are revealing themselves now, pretending to be surprised that the behavior they saw was something important. The entire left leaning media empire should resign in shame for gaslighting the American people. You chose an agenda instead of your country. The media, and I mean the right wing media too, need to call a spade a spade. The American people and people all over the world count on the media to bring us the truth. This whole debate issue is a wonderful display of how badly our media is letting us down. It begins with those closest to the president. They know more than anybody. It's not a good sign when the president's people keep him away from the media, and that's what they've been doing. Everything is very scripted, and Joe even has notes on which member of the media to call on and what the question will be. He's pretty good when reading from a teleprompter, or if he already knows what the question will be, but he clearly had a tough time thinking on his feet. But his presidency is part leader, part leaded. I'm sure Joe has some say so, but for the most part, I think a lot of Americans sometimes wonder who's running the country. Is it Joe? Is it Kamala? Is it somebody else? We know it's not the Secretary of Defense because he can just check into a hospital without telling anybody. Some are speculating that the first lady, Jill Biden, is running the show. I'm surprised the left will tolerate a white woman taking over or a black woman is officially next in line. There's a small faction of Democrats who think President Biden should withdraw from the race for a second term. The problem is their hands are tied. If they make Joe step away, only Kamala has access to all the campaign money they've raised. So the choice is between Joe and Kamala if you want to keep the money. It might be too late for another candidate to jump in, and let's not forget that there's also a Kennedy in the race for president. Shunned by the party early on, maybe only a Kennedy can save the Democrats.
SPEAKER_04Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.
SPEAKER_01That phrase is now the opposite of what the Democratic Party stands for. But if Joe doesn't want to go, he doesn't have to. He's already won enough delegates in the primaries to become the party's nominee. Fourteen million votes for Joe. I wonder how many would vote the same way, knowing what they know now. Democratic voters are panicking, and so is the media. Guys like Jake Tapper and Victor Blackwell are suddenly investigative reporters uncovering the shocking story of Joe Biden's mental capacity. Meanwhile, we haven't heard Donald Trump utter a single I told you so. Which is fine with me, because that's my line. I've been telling this story about the media and the manipulation it employs to influence instead of inform. Now, Joe Biden has laid bare the sad truth about how poorly our media has served us. President Biden is now on what's probably a solo mission to repair his reputation. He's had a vigorous rally in one of the Carolinas the day after the debate made his memory lapses and his cold symptoms distant memories. He did an interview with Clinton administration upstart George Stephanopoulos for ABC Television. I actually watched it on my laptop. Joe held his own pretty well, but people still found glaring reasons to doubt his abilities. George didn't seem to pull too many punches either. But I thought the interview was going to be much longer. Maybe there was a longer version I didn't see. Joe stuck up for himself, and if it was any later in the evening, he may have got irritated. That's not a joke. He did what he had to do following the poor display at the debate. Just because Joe still has his eyes on the prize, he knows he has to shore up black voter support. To do that, his people scheduled interviews with two black owned radio stations. One in the Midwest that was broadcast statewide, and the other on a Philadelphia radio station. A black-owned all-talk radio station that prides itself on its independence and autonomy and lives to serve its listeners with accurate and unbiased information. I'm sure the other station had standards too. Appearing on CNN with Victor Blackwell, who, as I mentioned earlier, is now an investigative reporter, was interviewing the Philadelphia radio personality who spoke with the president. She revealed that the White House sent her a list of eight questions she could ask, and she approved four of them. Those were the questions she asked. The other radio station in the Midwest asked similar questions. That's what raised suspicions that the questions were planted by the White House. And they were. Well, the woman who worked at the Philadelphia radio station doesn't anymore. As it turns out, she arranged the interview with the president without input from station management. Can't blame her, really. That's quite a scoop to get an interview with the president. She probably thought the boss would be thrilled to get an interview with the president of the United States. Maybe she'd get a raise or move up to another level of news gathering. Instead, she was asked to resign for not involving management in the plan. Management was upset that she agreed to ask prescribed questions. Radio station management, as I pointed out, doesn't play that game. They pride themselves on holding public officials accountable and would have not agreed to pre-written questions. They had their own questions they wanted answered, and the now unemployed host didn't ask those questions. Now she's a media job lost because of Joe Biden's policies. I get the feeling there should be more job losses because of this exposure of the truth about our president. And there should be. What's sad is that the job of news reporter has morphed into something else. The definition of news has been abandoned by agenda-driven corporations and ideals. Somewhere along the line, the media became the elite while parading as the bourgeois, pretending to protect us from the dangers that await if we don't follow their lead. That's not at all what the media is supposed to do. We've let them fail at their jobs for far too long. It didn't start with Joe Biden or Donald Trump, but it became painfully obvious when Donald Trump came down that escalator. It was actually hard to believe he beat the apparatus that the Clintons had put together, but he did. It surprised a lot of people, but mostly it surprised our media and the elites at colleges and universities. Until then, we didn't have the division and vitriol evident in our politics that we see today. Nothing gets done because everyone has pledged to disagree with the other side. But that's another story. In the meantime, we the people need to demand more from the fourth estate. Our government's system of checks and balances works much better when the media does their job in the way the First Amendment intended. Right now, the service our news providers give us is subpar at best and downright dishonest and treasonous at its worst. Media's in big trouble. I read the newsletters. I know that jobs and local news gathering are drying up. There's no money for it. Print newspapers are disappearing. Fewer radio stations have local news to cover school board meetings and city council. Fewer and fewer people have control over news content. And yes, there are more independent news sources out there, but they all have a purpose other than informing the people. They all have editors and publishers who want a story told in a certain way, or not told at all. I'm probably no exception. I just don't know it. In any case, the media has lost its way. The result is that Joe Biden owns the Democratic Party. It is solely up to him if he wishes to run for president or not. The only thing I have to say to the Democrats and the news media who deceived us is you reap what you sow. The listening tube is written and produced by yours truly, Copyright 2024.
